About JoshJosh has been a student of the Feldenkrais Method since 1997, when chronic tendinitis forced him to stop playing the cello. He is a member of the Feldenkrais Guild of North America, having become Certified as a Feldenkrais Practitioner in 2001. His teaching is also informed by studies in the Alexander Technique, Tai Chi, Chi Gung, and Jewish spirituality. In addition to his practice in Arlington and Somerville, Josh has taught the Feldenkrais Method to students at Bennington College, New England Conservatory, Berklee College of Music, and the Longy Shcool of Music. Josh is now an active musician, completing a Masters degree in Early Music performance on viola da gamba at the Longy School of Music and is a founding member of the renaissance band Seven Times Salt and ensembles Musica Nuova and Long & Away. |
A few testimonials about Josh and his work:
I have been learning and benfiting from Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement since 1978. Of all the ATM practitionners I have studied with, Josh Schreiber's work has been the most profound. Josh has a gift for pacing and adjusting his ATM lessons to a group and for teaching without allowing his own ego to interfere. He leads one through movement lessons in a way that facillitates inward focus and discovery. I always look forward to another class with Josh.

I feel so deeply blessed to have found Josh at the Arlington Center, and truly appreciate not only Moshe Feldenkrais' work, but HIS presence in this work. He is sensitive, thorough, sincere, gentle, kind, knowledgeable, trustworthy, and an emotionally safe person for me to work with as I continue to learn about how my body works and how it works best with the least stress and strain. Thanks So Very Much!!!

Josh introduced me to the Feldenkrais Method two years ago, when I had been plagued by injuries and various conditions requiring physical therapy. Josh's Awareness Through Movement sessions helped me to correct harmful habits and to avoid further injury. His gentle approach and common sense struck just the right note, and his recommendation of Feldenkrais materials further advanced my knowledge of the method. Many thanks, Josh!

Josh worked with me to address some of the difficulties I'd been having with my sciatica. His approach is great, and he is a careful and sincere practitioner. Through my sessions with Josh, I found new perspective in both looking at my problems with pain, and in new movements to help alleviate it.

I've taken many classes with Josh and look forward to more — he's a wonderful, dedicated, and encouraging guide on this astonishing path.

For 27 years, I got headaches that would last about 3 days. Nothing helped. The worst part was trying to get to sleep at night. I'd toss and turn for hours. After the first segment of your workshop, I started to get one of those headaches. I did a simple movement that you taught me, and the headache went away in about 30 seconds! What a relief! Now, whenever that tension pattern starts up again, I know just what to do to feel fine right away. No more headaches! No more sleepless nights! Thank you so much.
